THE "BATTLE OF THE ROCKBANDS" COMPETITION KICKS OFF
Do you have what it takes to be a guitar god? On the Rocks Pub & Grill is conducting a Kamloops wide search for the next great Rockband! Starting October 18th, 2008, On the Rocks Pub & Grill and Okanagan Breweries will give you a chance. We are turning our pub into your private stage to unleash your inner rockdom and give you your shot at feeling what it is really like to be a real Rockband. So read below for how to enter and contest details.

REGISTRATION
You can register in two different ways:
1. Complete a Rockband registration form and drop it off at On The Rocks Pub & Grill.
2. Sign up at 98.3cifm.com

Either form of registration is due by October 10th, 2008 . Please do not submit a registration form unless you will be available to participate in the competition.

CONTEST DETAILS
The contest begins on October 23rd at 8 pm and will continue every Thursday thereafter. Competition will consist of 6 qualifying weeks which will begin on October 23rd and continue on October 30th, November 6th, November 13th , November 20th and November 27th. Semi-finals will be slated for December 4th and the finals on December 11th.

You can choose any song from Guitar Hero 1 or Guitar Hero II to perform the night of the contest as long as the song is under 5 minutes long. However, we are making an exception if you want to play Sweet Child O’ Mine. Why? Because Guns N’ F***in Roses rules!

Scoring will be acummulative score of 2 user-chosen songs. The top band from each qualifying week will advance to the semi-finals on December 4th . Weekly winners will go at it 'tournament' style final, head to head, until only 1 band remains on December 11th.

Game will be played on Playstation III. Players are encouraged to bring their own controllers, even though equipment will be provided at the event.

Must be 19+ to participate.

SCORING SYSTEM
Your score will be based on 3 factors:
1. 70% of your score will be based on your Rockband performance based on your percentage of notes hit. All bands will default to playing on MEDIUM, unless they request otherwise. However, there will be an extra multiplier for playing Hard or playing Expert.
- You will receive a 1.1x multiplier for playing Hard.
- You will receive a 1.2x multiplier for playing Expert.
- Example: If you hit 80% of the notes on Hard your score will be 80% x 1.1 or 88% as compared to a player on Medium. This will greatly benefit better players.
2. 15% of your score will be based on your costume. Don’t dare show up to this contest dressed in street clothes! We want to see your interpretation of the band you are choosing for your Rockband song.
3. 15% of your score will be based on your performance. This has nothing to do with your game score and everything to do with your jumping scissor kicks, choreography, etc.

Entourages are not part of the scoring system, but obviously the more fans you have screaming for you, the more the judges will be impressed.
